Some comments worth repeating from the Cup Organizer:
District II Cup is a district wide event completely ran by volunteers. It is an event that pulls together the whole district in what is supposed to be a friendly celebration of our community. It is the biggest fund raiser for the district and all the leagues are pitching in with fields and volunteers. It is a huge tournament, surely one of the biggest in the country. Over 600 teams participated this year. In addition, it is the most affordable tournament in California.
With all this in mind, I would like you to look at the event in a way that is
involved and understanding because it is YOUR event too. Some sites may not have the most experienced volunteers, some games may not be refed by the best refs, I may not make the schedule the way you see best, etc. Before you send me pages and pages of complaints (I do get quite a bit of those) try to jump in and help. Go to the field coordinator and offer to help, pick up some trash, help setup/take down a field, offer to ref. Most of all, please do not forget that all this work is for the kids - very young kids - and that this is not World Cup. Tone down your competitive juices, rankings, wins and other ambitions. It is too early for them. The jamboree does not declare a winner, we do not give trophies. Enjoy the game.
